In 1973 when the founders opened Lady Bug Gallery, they had no idea in 20+ years, their little frame shop and gallery would evolve into Nelson Fine Art showing 500-1000 pieces of art at any one time and annually completing hundreds of custom framing projects for individual and commercial clients. With 8000 square feet dedicated to the presentation of Southern Appalachian art, craft, custom framing, art supplies & beads and studios, Nelson Fine Art is a regional Art anchor and contains a "total arts economy" within the four walls. By displaying and framing art for public view, Nelson Fine Art Center is committed to forging community bonds, increasing public awareness, encouraging creative expression, discovering new artists and to the growth of the arts in the Southern Appalachian region of East Tennessee. .

As we like to say, "framing keeps art on these walls." Our friendly and creative staff strives to explore framing as an art form in itself. The goal is to create a unique and personalized frame for each piece we work with all at very competitive prices!
Nelson Fine Art presents a magnificent selection of fine art to fit any décor and budget. Home to 30 talented regional artists with expertise in nearly every medium and genre from painting to photography to pottery, jewelry, weaving, mixed media, and sculpture. The art is always changing with artists displaying their newest creations.
Every month promises exciting new shows featuring exceptional works by regional artists. Each exhibit is celebrated with an opening reception from 7-9 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. The First Friday "meandering art festival" has grown into a district wide event with open houses and live music throughout the historic downtown.
